The Festive Season is upon us...

The Festive Season is upon us and the UK is building up to Christmas with a joyous array of attractions for all, whether from the UK or travelling from abroad. Take a short city break and visit some of the Christmas Markets or make it a longer trip and take in a number of cities with spectacular Christmas Markets and shows.

If it is a show you want then the Thursford Spectacular, which runs from the 6th November to the 23rd December may be your choice to get you in the mood for the festive season. Thursford in Norfolk is the setting for this Christmas show set in a truly farirytale setting of fairground carousels and mechanical organs with west end show stars and singers,dancers and musicians performing in a three hour specatacular. The show is  a celebration of Christmas with music, dance, humour and traditional Christmas carols as well as modern well known tunes.

For ballet lovers there is the perennial favourite with the Nutcracker bringing Christmas to ballet. The English National Ballet are performing this enchanting ballet to Tchaikovsky's magical score at the London Colisuem from the 13th to the 30th December. This ballet will enthrall young and old alike with the story of Clara and her adventures in a Christmas winter wonderland. With beautiful music and wonderful costumes this ballet is a real Christmas treat. Performances of this ever popular Christmas ballet will be taking place all over the country and is not to be missed.

If shopping beckons then why not visit one of the many Christmas markets around the country. Running throughout mid/late November through to Christmas there will be a Christmas Market at a city somewhere near you. Why not try the Christmas Market at Blenheim Palace and follow the Winter Trail through the grounds which are illuminated with thousands of lights, lasers and projections to create a magical setting for the market stalls. The busy German Christmas Market in Birmingham is the biggest German Market outside of Europe. Enjoy Bavarian beer or a traditional glass of mulled wine to keep the winter chill at bay whislt browsing the stalls and picking up those Christmas gifts for friends and family. Leeds Castle in Kent has a traditional Christmas Market but in addition has the added attraction of birds of prey and reindeer for the children to meet.

All your Christmas shopping can be completed at the Christmas markets but if you want large stores try the famous stores in London. There's Harrods in Knightsbridge for all those gourmet foods for your table and Hamleys on Regent Streetfor the children's toys. if your looking for a posh frock or evening wear why not try Harvey Nichols or Selfridges. Lots of choice to finish all those last minute purchases on a short break to London or some of the other major cities in the UK.

Light up your Christmas with a visit to the UK for the period running up to Christmas and join in the festivities.
